First Bite
June 14, 2007
Well, Gatlin has suffered his first bite from Maddex. Apparently he had the remote control and she wanted it. When he didn’t hand it over, she clamped on to his face. I thought she would go for an ear or and finger first. Biting a face isn’t the easiest thing to do. But she was successful. It took him about 10 minutes to stop crying. She laughed at him the whole time. I am hoping it was because she thought he was laughing and not because she is just that evil!!! Anyway, she left him with three big welts on his face. He took it pretty well. He didn’t get mad at her. Apparently she told him that she was sorry…I guess I missed that part.
Fun At The Fair
June 11, 2007
We loaded up and went to the fair on Saturday. It was a great day for it.. apparently the rest of Manitoba thought so too. The lines were crazy. I don’t think that I have ever seen them that long before. Poor Gatlin had to sit through a haircut before we could go and it almost killed him. We decided to cut off his trademark shaggy hair for the summer. He was so sweaty all the time but the clincher was when we found the beetle happily living in there!!! Anyway, it was nice to see his face again. I don’t think I have seen it since last summer.
Gatlin really surprised us this year, he was ready for the big rides. It was the first time that Chad, Gatlin and I could all go on a ride together. Our niece Alicia joined us on the Twister. You can’t beat the feeling you have with yours hands in the air screaming away as you get smashed up against each other. It was great!!! Gatlin was laughing so hard that he had tears coming out of his eyes. I have always refused to go on the swings. It is not the height that bothers me but the fact that only a few pieces of chain are holding me up there. Well Gatlin was brave enough to go so I couldn’t back down. I think that my hands still have the imprints of the chains on them!! And I am sure that the words PLEASE BE OVER.. PLEASE BE OVER will forever be imprinted on my brain.
I did opt out of the ship when Gatlin and Chad decided to try it. It was hilarious watching Gatlin. He had his head hidden on Chad’s arm but he still managed to put his hands in the air. When they got off the ride Chad had a big streak of Gatlin’s drool all down his arm. Must have been a great ride!!
Maddex had a good time watching and was very proud when Daddy won her a tweety bird at the Wack A Mole game. I guess you are never too young or too old for the fair.
Week One In Souris
June 11, 2007
Well, we survived the move to Souris, but just barely. I have to admit this latest move had me a little stressed out. I can honestly say that I was a real witch for most of the last two weeks. Chad being the target of most of my wrath.. some deserved some not so deserved. Anyway, we survived.
The house is great. I am really loving the open kitchen and livingroom. It almost feels like a cottage. We have some painting to do and a few rooms to finish downstairs but all in all it is a great house. Gatlin is so happy to be back in Souris school. His teacher said that he transitioned like he never left. He came back at the right time. Just in time for Field Day, Gum Day and swimming lessons. Maddex had a rough couple of days but I am not sure if it was from the move or because she is cutting teeth again. Chad’s parents came down last weekend to watch the kids while we unpacked so that was a huge help. It is hard unpacking with a 10 month-old in your other hand!!!
Hopefully this is our last move. We always seem to misplace something, this time it was a phone so if you call and it takes us awhile to answer the phone it is because we only have one now!!
Thank You Meagan
May 29, 2007
Okay so I am not always the brightest person when it comes to blogging. I keep forgetting that the entire world can read this blog…so it probably isn’t a good idea to put our address and phone number in it. A big thank you to Meagan for bringing this to my attention. Anyway, I went back in to the last post and just left in our box number. If you need our phone number, send me an email and I will send it to you..or I guess you can do it the old fashion way and call 411.
I will try to be smarter in my future blogs.
Flip The Page
May 28, 2007
Well, if you are like my Gramma Madill, you will have to flip the page you have for our addresses and phone numbers because we have another one. Monday night will be our last night in the house at Souris, crap I mean Dauphin. I am so confused I can’t remember where I live. We will spend a couple of nights at Chad’s Grandparents’ up here and then we are off to our new house in Souris…to unpack all over again.
So here is our new address. Box 264 . Our email address will stay the same. Hopefully, we will have our computer up and running by Saturday and I will try to update you all on how the move went. And hey, if you are feeling sorry for us you can always stop by with a case of beer.
Talk to you all after the move!!
A Great Weekend
May 23, 2007
Crappy weather for May long..surprise.. surprise. Oh well, it didn’t really matter to me. I was inside shopping all weekend. We went down to Minot with Chad’s family for the weekend. God I love shopping in the States!! How is it that I can buy Gatlin runners down there for $10 when the same shoes up here cost $24??? It was really interesting trying to fit everything in the Jeep and still be able to get the kids in their seats! Gatlin was thrilled that we had supper at Aliens, the theme of the restaurant being obvious from the name. It also had an arcade similar to Ruckers. And lucky me Gatlin got to bring home an Alien head lamp. Apparently Grandpa Ron couldn’t wait to see the look on my face when I realized it was actually going to be the newest decoration in my house. I am pretty sure that he had something to do with picking it out.
We had a so-so stay at the Vegas motel. Once again the theme being obvious!! It was okay. There were no fridges, no microwaves and it was at the opposite end of town from the mall, but the pool was warm and they didn’t kick us out for drinking outside of the room until 2:00 am both nights.
Anyway, we made it home with our cheap beer for countryfest and unfortunately the alien lamp for Gatlin’s room!!
Boys, Boxes and Babies
May 18, 2007
Sorry that it has been so long since I last posted but lately my life has revolved around boxes, boys and babies. Chad has been on the road a lot lately so I have been on my own with the kids. For some strange reason it is taking me a lot longer to get packed!! Maybe because Maddex has graduated from unpacking boxes to ripping off small pieces of cardboard and eating it. She keeps me on my toes.
Gatlin is now in a pirate phase. He actually fell asleep with his pirate patch on the other night. And he refused to return some movies for me unless I let him wear his patch and take his sword. It was pretty funny watching him strut down the street chopping at every sign he passed. He didn’t fess up until later that he took his patch off to go in the store because he was nervous.
I have to admit that in the few minutes I have free at night I feed my new addiction. Webkinz. I might have explained this before but here it is again for those of you who don’t know what it is. It is a stuffed animal(Gatlin has a frog) that comes with a code. You enter this code in the webkinz site and you then have access to games. You can also buy rooms for your pets house and then you can decorate the rooms. You earn webkinz cash by playing games on the site. It is also a safe site for kids to send preselected messages to other webkinz friends. I am not alone in my addiction. Auntie Vicki and Uncle Mike have also fallen victim. The only down fall is that only one person can be using the username at once. So if I am on and Vicki logs in it will kick me off. This has lead to some heated phone calls at 11:00 at night when I have got her booted off the site in the middle of a game. Chad doesn’t understand my weakness and is thoroughly disgusted to find me on the site late at night. I tried to explain that it is a disease but he doesn’t believe me. This week I bought Loco Frog (Gatlin picked the name) a kitchen complete with a car stove and racing fridge. If you have kids you really need to get one of these.
New Games
May 11, 2007
Maddex has discovered some new ways to have fun this week. She loves to bit my
knees. Bite…laugh hysterically…Bite….laugh hysterically. She did it for 1/2 an hour the other day. It is cute now that she only has two teeth but I am not so sure I want to play this game when she gets more.
She has also discovered how much fun it can be for her to pull laundry out of the laundry baskets. And hey, why not pull things out of boxes. This is coming in really handy now that I have started to pack for our move. You don’t realize how quick kids are until you turn your back for a second only to find all of your neatly folded laundry on the floor with drool marks all over it. If only they cleaned up as fast as they mess up.
Letting Go
May 11, 2007
As of last week, Gatlin is a free man. I finally gave in and let him ride his bike to school by himself. I know that it is only 4 blocks but he has to cross a really busy road to get there. And, like his Dad, he is an easily distracted driver. Don’t tell Chad I said that. Anyway, on the first day I put Maddex in her stroller and got ready to go. After some very loud protesting from Gatlin, I lied… I mean explained that Maddex and I were just going for a walk. He took off across the school ground by our house and Maddex and I took off at a dead run around the other side of the school to watch him cross the road. This little adventure also served to reminded me how out of shape I am but that is another story. Well, he made it safely across the street and Maddex and I headed home at a much slower pace.
The next day I managed to only follow him to the corner. I realized that I had to let him go some time and also that my legs hadn’t recovered from the day before. He now goes to school everyday by himself. I guess I will have to learn to let him do more and more on his own now that he is getting older but it is really hard.
I also learned from all of this that I need to exercise so I bought a jogging stroller. Here’s hoping that it gets used more that my exercise bike.
Little Boba
May 3, 2007
Dauphin has definitely had an impact on us. We have all gained five pounds from Gramma’s cooking and Maddex is turning into a little Boba. Actually, Chad’s Auntie Pat is here from Tennessee and she gave this very pretty dress to Maddex.
And we discovered that she is more like her big brother than we thought. She can’t resist dropping her drawers or in this case…lifting the skirt.
